Beyond Positive Thinking: The Realities of Manifesting Wealth in a Capitalist Society
When people talk about manifesting money and wealth, it’s often done from this individualist perspective suggesting that if you walk with an abundant mindset and simply believe it’ll come to you then it will. That’s just not all there is.
That doesn’t account for late-stage capitalism. That doesn’t account for generational poverty. That doesn’t account for the abundant, interwoven systems fueling oppression. One can not simply think their way out of poverty. Anyone who claims to do so is either unaware of their stored abundance or is willfully ignorant.
Abundance As An Energy
Abundance is an energy. Wealth is an energy built from an abundance. Money is a physical tangible tool.
An abundance of money is considered physical wealth, but you can have an abundance of anything. An abundance of problems, an abundance of food, an abundance of friends, an abundance of resources, an abundance of access, an abundance of energy.
One can have an abundant, wealthy spirit and mindset, but that may not necessarily translate to physical money. These are people who walk with an abundance mindset. These people are expansive, growing, glowing, and rich in substance, heart, and character.
Everybody with abundant wealth physically is not inherently abundant in spirit. The two are not 1=1.
What they have is abundance stored somewhere or in multiple spaces. One may manifest physical money on their own, but manifesting abundance and wealth rarely happens alone.
If abundance and wealth is an energy then those with money have abundance and wealth stored in the systems needed to translate that into a physical representation.
The Astrology of It
In everyday terms, this is called privilege. If we think of abundance in terms of astrology, that is Jupiter. In addition to abundance, wealth, and generosity, Jupiter is privileged.
People mistakenly believe that wealthy people are wealthy due to having money. In everyday terms, of course, that’s the term: wealthy person.
But this wealth? Is an abundance of privilege. This is abundance in the form of privilege that continuously snowballed into a physical representation of money.
When you see wealth physically on someone, look beneath the surface. Look beyond the money. Look beyond the pockets. Where is their abundance stored?
For certain people, for certain demographics, this abundance is stored in many non-tangible spaces, backed by years or generations of accumulation.
If you think in terms of astrology, Jupiter rejoices in the 11th house. That is where privilege, opportunity, generosity, abundance and this said energetic wealth..likes to be. That’s where it flourishes.
Venus, planet ruling money and values, rejoices in the 5th house. There is a connection between one's abundance and one's talents, joy, proximity to dominant culture, opportunities, networks, access to dreams, the CO-CREATING (5th house to 11th house) and institutions full of people.
An aspect of oppression and liberation
Physical wealth and money abundance are not cultivated by oneself. The spaces and people lacking money do not need a sole, individual abundance mindset. People are not thinking their way out of poverty.
While you do need the abundance mindset, it’s not necessarily to make the money. The abundance mindset is needed for belief, expansion, and the freedom.
This is where we get into oppression and liberation (Jupiter). This is why we can’t just say “manifest your way with this mindset!” This is also why we say "financial freedom." It is a freedom.
To even carry this abundance mindset requires a certain liberation; a certain Jupiterian freedom that’s embedded in your philosophy. For many, that requires healing and fighting many of our systems so that people under oppressive systems can be liberated enough to see abundance. Liberating oneself is a practice, but theres also a larger liberation that is so necessary.
The majority of people lacking money are not lacking money or wealth because of self, which is what "just manifest money with your mindset" implies. People lack money due to a restriction, a lack of liberation, a cut-off from interconnectedness, support, generational trauma, lack of creativity, hope, lack of networks, lack of awareness, resources and abundance as an energy seen and felt.
Feelings of inner abundance is one thing. External, physical abundance is another.
So, where do we find abundance?
Material abundance is stored in the community. That friend with a job opening. The talents we learned from others. The others who scouted us for our talents. The social media platforms we carry. The ancestors, the religious instituitons, the philosophies governing the world. The things we consider privileges are things that wealthy people were born with or gained through others.
So, what do we need to gain wealth?
For money, you need something more than just that abundance mindset. You need an energetically wealthy community and many have been stripped of that.
You need hopes, desires, goals, community, privilege, a network, an expansion of the self, people willing to help, ancestral connection, ancestral veneration, and that is what’s lacking. Wealthy people's abundance is in many valuable systems.
When people have to focus on their survival, what time and space is given to the wealth and abundance of the community? When ancestors were historically enslaved, abundance and generations torn apart, what time and space was and is given to building this wealth and abundance?
The majority of people are fighting for their survival. We have to cultivate systems of our own while fighting the current one. That's not a task we can simply reduce to "lets all just think our way there."
The systems hoarding wealth have done a good job at containing it within their spheres while ostracizing everyone else. That is another thing 11th house placements know very well: ostracization.
Things that should be of access to all are not. It's a fight for liberation, and it's a fight for community at this point.
So, when we discuss “manifesting” wealth, it cannot be done alone.
It cannot be done by thinking with a narrow mind that wealth = money.
No, we are wealthy in many ways. We are abundant in many ways. We need each other to reach anything and it’s the lack of community wealth, the lack of access, and raging systemic bullshit that suppresses.
We manifest this wealth with each other, for each and by each other, not on our lone abundance mindset.
There is power in collective, community abundance. It's time to redefine abundance and wealth, moving beyond materialism as well as individualism. It's time to be able to spot wealth and abundance in many things, not just money. Abundance, whether spiritual or exemplified through a material representation, will always start in our spirit and the energy we imbue in our community.
